What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this have?  This has many uses of sound to make the viewers feel the impact of what's going on in the film. We are going to use sound because we want the viewers to feel like they are in the film and included in it. It also has dialogue. We are going to use dialogue so that the viewer can know what's going on. We're going to use it to add context to our film. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I liked the scenes where the camera is close up to the person. It adds a sense of horror and fear, looking closely to the scary character. Also, I liked the over the shoulder scenes. It showed what the victim saw and that makes the viewer think that they are in the victims shoes. This also applies with point of view. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you thinking of not filming for your final task? The clothing convention does n

Movie Research: Haunted Mansion

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this have?  It was mainly the sound aspects and how the editing aligned with it. One thing that this movie has is a lot of dialouge which is esstential for our final task. Our final task natuarlly has a lot of dialouge in it to build suspense for the audience. Another thing was a lot of background noises in the Haunted Mansion helped bring the scenes to life which we plan on adding for our final task.  What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?  I liked the Mis-En-Scenes. All the costumes, lighting, acting, and makeup make the movie look more interesting. I also really enjoyed the editing. The different cuts and the added colors and characters (the ghosts) also adds to the storyline. It also helps the auidence understand whats going on and to get a feel of the movie.  What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you thinking of not filming for your fin

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this have? It has things such as suspenseful sounds, and scenes with tension to build up the suspenseful for the readers. One thing that this movie does have is dialogue, which is also an  essential in our final task and a big part of it. The dialogue in our final task is build up the story and excitement/thriller of what may happen next. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I liked the certain camera angles of the movie during certain parts. Parts when someone was trapped or cornered, the camera would be close up to them or in a high angle. I also like the costumes, lighting, and acting of the movie, which is why it’s so infamous today. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you thinking of not filming for your final task?  Unlike the movie, where there are a lot of props and different costumes, we are keeping our final task simple. A con

Genre Decision Making

Image
We decided to do the genre of horror for our opening sequence. We chose this because within our story line we will be able to insert things like sound, lighting, and angles that fit in within the genre. Also the usage of the setting and props will add to the story as well. We really like our idea and if done well, the opening sequence would be really cool and interesting. Also, when thinking of ideas, horror was one of the easier options to go with so we went with it. We are looking forward to filming and editing this final task.

Genre: Comedy  Common camera angles, movement, and shots:   A type of cams used in comedy films are wide shots. They are used to capture the whole scene and incorporate every element including characters, and the environment into the shot. They also provide the ability to show visual gags, reveal funny situations, and showcase physical comedy. Another type of cam is a close-up. Close-ups reveal facial expressions, reactions, and nuances that contribute to comedic timing and deliver. Lastly, another type of angle is a low angle. This helps employ the effects of comedic effects, making characters appear larger than life, and emphasizing physical comedy.  Common mis-en-scene:  Some mis-en-scenes that are used are exaggerated costumes. Exaggerated costumes can enhance physical comedy and contribute to the visual humor of the characters. Lastly, there can be props for physical comedy. Cleverly chosen and utilized props contribute to visual gags, slapstick comedy, and humorous scenarios wi

Our Pitch

Image
Pitch A:  The main character receives several calls from an unknown number about their impending future, soon discovering it’s from their future self. Discuss Pitch A: We decided to do this idea for a pitch because we found it very interesting. We thought it was cool to do this idea, yet very doable. For this idea, we don’t have to go to a specific location where we need permission to access it. We can easily film this at one of our houses in a dark place for the effect. The only thing we may find a little difficult about this pitch is the editing, but  as we go further with this idea, we think it’ll be easier to edit.  Pitch B: Sick patient seeks help from a doctor thats a secretly a serial killer injecting dangerous chemicals in their bodies. Discuss Pitch B: We are interested in doing this pitch as more of backup plan. The storyline is interesting and would be cool if done well. However, getting access to a hospital to film in would be a tedious process. None of us know someone who

My group for the Final Task

Image
For this group project, it will be three of us. It will me be Mai’Lyia, Ludji or Ludjmillia, and Joel. The reason why I chose them for our group is because I know them. I thought it would be easier and simpler to do a project with people you already know. Ludjmilla and I are in the same class but have different periods. However, I’m in the same period with Joel. We decided to be in the same group again for the final task. This was because as a group, we did very well last time. We received a decent score on our music so we think it’ll be best for us to remain in the same group. We also thought it would just be easier to stay in the same group so we could figure out things a little earlier. Last time, I think we did very well in our group. We finished all of our work on time and within/before the due date. We made sure to all agree on certain ideas and just take over. We all cooperated and picked ideas that were best for the whole group, not just for the benefit of one member. It was

Intro Blog for the Final Task

It’s me again! I’m back for the final task time!! Hi, my name is Mai’Lyia and I’m in 10th grade. I’m 14 years old, turning 15 in a couple of days on September 21st. Yes, I’m still 14 in my sophomore year. I have 4 siblings, one biological, and 3 from different parents. I have one dog, a Doberman Pinscher named Nala. I love listening to music, like a lot. I listen to a lot of genres but k-pop is probably a genre I listen to the most. I love BTS, yes the k-pop group, I got into them in 2019. Most of the time I won’t tell people I like it, they eventually figure it out. My favorite color has always been purple since I was little. It has been a little more significant to me fo many reasons. I’d like to think of myself as an introvert. I usually only talk to people if they talk to me and then we’ll start talking more. My family would know for sure, I’m a whole different person at home. I’d like to think I’m a nice person, like the type of person to hold the door for the whole classroom or
