Peer Review

Image
For our film we got two people to critique our blog. To be honest, they had absolutely nothing bad to say and thought that it was really good. Lyne, said that she didn’t think anything was wrong. She said she loved the choice of music. She also said that she loved how it got louder at the climax of the film. She said that she actually got scared on the part, which was the climax of the film. This was a bonus because our movie genre is horror, so that’s the whole idea. Ludji also asked another friend for critiques. Her name was Valentina. She also had nothing bad to say about our film too and thought that it was really good. She said that are video was really good. She hoped that her turns out like ours. The only critique she had was that at one point it sounded like the music sounds like it restarts. Valentina said that the cut of the music in the back was a little obvious. So we are going to fix it. She said to just try to make it smoother and blend in better. Just so that it’s not o

Re-Editing

Image
For editing, we did re-edit a lot of things. For one, at first I was going to edit our sequence. However, Joel said he would edit so he did. I was using Alight Motion to edit the film but we switched to a software called Danvinci Resolve. One thing we also changed was using a split screen at the beginning at the film. This why Ludji and I were facing the way would be facing if we were face to face. The purpose of splitting the screen was to show we were in different places. We also re-edited the clips where we were having a conversation. The pauses between each piece of dialogue was very long and made it obvious that we weren’t really on the phone. So, I clipped the videos after realizing how long it was. Another thing we re-edited was title of the film. In my blog about titles and fonts I mentioned that we used a font called “horror” however we used a different website and it didn’t have that font on there. Also, the title was at the beginning and I had to fix it because there is an

Re-Filming

Image
As for re-filming our open sequence, we didn’t do much re-filming. When we soon found out that we had did our slightly wrong, we did think about the idea of re-filming. However, we figured that we wouldn’t enough time to even re-film, since it was nearing the end of February. One did we re-film were several parts of our opening sequence. Such as, re-filming the scene if someone laughed or if noise was in the background. At one point we did have to re-film a part only because we changed our mind about using my camera. The camera had really good quality and thought it would be best to use. However, my camera runs on batteries and was about to go dead. So, we re-filmed the part where Ludji is on the phone talking to the other person, me. If we were to re-film,  we would probably re-film the outside of my house. When I recorded the outside of my home, it was still pretty bright outside. The time taking place during this film is like evening, dusk time. Showing the house while it’s still b

Music Blog: Picking the Music

Image
So for our music we decided to use royalty free music. In a sense, we took a little while to pick music. It would have taken entirely too long for an artist to get back to us if we picked a song made by a singer/artist. For us to pick this, I simply looked up creepy royalty free music. A lot of options came up for this. I literally just chose the first one I saw, or that popped up. It was actually good because this video had various sounds. The video was an hour long. I just scrolled through the video and saw which one I liked the most. The first one was the best one in my opinion. I then sent to the group chat that our group is in. Ludji and Joel both said they liked the first one too. So, we decided to use the first one. It was very suspenseful and eerie sound that definitely would leave someone creeped out. The name of the sound was “Deafening Silence” . I believe it really did match the atmosphere of our opening sequence. It did make a lot of sense to use this one, as all the othe

Editing Blog: Changing the Plan

Image
So, we did the filming part of the final task not totally wrong but somewhat wrong. The film is supposed to be the opening sequence of a movie. Instead of that we film a whole short film not knowing completely. This time we left the editing up to Joel since he had an idea on how to fix. Of course, we’re going to help him if we need to. However, he said that he had software which was called Danvinci Resolve, so we thought it was best for him edit the film. I was going to record the outside of my house for one of the scenes, which wasn’t what we included at first in our film. I believe that Joel will be the on who puts the clips together so it seems like it is an opening sequence. The point of this is so that it doesn’t tell the whole story or plot. I’ll put the words and titles and things like production and editing since I was the one who picked the fonts. Ludji also thought it was best for us to leave the part of when her and I were having a conversation on the phone. This takes up a

Editing Blog: Struggles

Image
Editing the film we made was a bit of a struggle since we all had different ideas on how it should be made. On top of that, we edited over FaceTime. This made it harder since we weren’t face to face with one another. First, we had to figure out what was going to be the title sequence and what would be the opening shot. We already decided what our font would be but, we had some last minute ideas. However, the last minutes ideas we could not change since we already put what it would be in our blogs. We decided that my house will be the video for part of the film that shows the title, actors, production company, etc. One thing we came across while editing is a realization. The instructions specified that we were to make an opening sequence a movie. This meaning the START of a film. This left all of us, especially me very frustrated because I’m the one who figured it out. One of our disadvantages is that we filmed sort of late of the month. In reality, there was absolutely no time to re-f

Filming Blog: Completing the Blog

The process of our filming consisted of two weekends. The first weekend, we were not confused but unsure how we should start or begin. We filmed one part and talked and planned a little more about how we should start the film. The next weekend, Joel and Ludji came over and this time we filmed and finished all of it. At first, we were going to use my camera that I received two Christmas’s ago but decided to go on a different route. As we were filming the previous weekend, the camera was coming close to being dead and I didn’t have any batteries at the time. Also it was a long and complicated process of transferring the videos to my phone so I could merge the videos and edit it properly. So, instead we filmed on Ludji’s phone because it was easier to do. Her phone is an iPhone 11 so it has the feature of cinematic on there. Thanks to that, the quality came close almost the same as an actually camera. The quality was very good and consisted of smooth movements and had good lighting. Howe

Filming Blog: Starting the Process

Filming was honestly pretty simple and was really fun. In order to film, Ludji and Joel came over my house for the weekend. When we were filming it was simple but hard at the same time. It can be awkward to be filmed and it was funny to be honest. We had to retake many scenes over again in order to a close to perfect video. It took us about 3 hours to film the video. A lot of times we had to restart the scenes because someone would laugh or there would be noise in the background that made it sound off. We filmed in many different spots in my house. For example, my room, my sisters room, my brother’s room, the living room, the kitchen, and the back of the house. The main spot or setting of the video was the back of house where the washing machine and dryer are located. The purpose of recording in the back was to create more of an eerie vibe. Also, while we were filming it had to be somewhat dark so we waited to film once it got darker. Joel first filmed Ludji’s part when she was sitting
