Planning Blog: Title Design

Fonts: 

For the main title of the video we will use a font called “horror” to give the title more effect and make it stand out more. We thought this font was cool and worth using because it gives the effect of a scary/eerie movie. The beginning of the letters have ink that’s like being somewhat “poured out” or “leaking” from the letter which also gives off that effect as well. The font color is also a dark black which gives scary vibes as well, given that’s it’s not a colorful or bright color. 

The next font we’ll use for the sub titles such as the actors names, directors, etc. This font will be less eye catching toward the viewers because it’s just like sub headings. The main title is supposed to catch the viewer attention the most. So for the next font we’ll just  use ‘This font’ for these titles. It’s not as eye catching as the first one, yet it’ll still leave the viewers curious about the actors/directors.

Contrast:

    Color-
The color of the all the fonts will just be plain black. The color black gives off neutral/scary type of feeling. Unlike a bright red or bright yellow, it sets the mood of the story better. In many horror movies, black is always associated with horror movies since it’s the literal color of darkness, which is why I think the fonts should remain a dark black.

        - Size and Purpose:

 The size of the main title font will probably be really big like as in size 20 font or larger depending on what we’re using. As for the sub titles, those will obviously be smaller than the main title such as 12-15 font size to still be able to show the actors and such but to not stand out as much as the actual title. It is important for the audience to read the title more than anything. Everything is also important, but the title sets the mood and feeling for the film as well as basically summarizing it in a way.


Working Title: 

I believe at this point the name of our film will be “Future Calls” it’s not set completely in stone yet but the title makes perfect sense considering what we are filming about.

How will the titles (the words) enter and leave the screen?

 I believe the titles/words will leave the screen as fading in and fading out, which is typically used in a  lot a film. Plus it’s a lot simpler do that instead.


How long will each title be on the screen before it disappears?


I think each title will be on the screen for about 2-3 to give the viewer enough time to read what it says, but not to much to the point it’s taking longer than it should.

Re-Filming

 As for re-filming our open sequence, we didn’t do much re-filming. When we soon found out that we had did our slightly wrong, we did think about the idea of re-filming. However, we figured that we wouldn’t enough time to even re-film, since it was nearing the end of February. One did we re-film were several parts of our opening sequence. Such as, re-filming the scene if someone laughed or if noise was in the background. At one point we did have to re-film a part only because we changed our mind about using my camera. The camera had really good quality and thought it would be best to use. However, my camera runs on batteries and was about to go dead. So, we re-filmed the part where Ludji is on the phone talking to the other person, me. If we were to re-film,  we would probably re-film the outside of my house. It was pretty easy

 Editing was easy for the most part since I already knew what I was doing. I used an app that I was familiar with so I wouldn’t have to learn how to use a different app. I added certain edits in there like split screen, fade in, fade out, and so on. I just inserted a clip, maybe shortened it or made it longer so it could match the length of the song we used. The only editing I had to do on the song was to fade the sound in towards the beginning and to fade the sound out towards the end of the music video. I also had to lower the sound for a period of time so the dialogue of the video was present. The only thing that was stressful and annoying was when the app (Alight Motion) would lag, glitch, or kick me out of the app. Other than that editing was pretty smooth. I tried to edit and film at the same time so it wouldn’t be as much work. However, in the end I just ended up editing after I was done filming everything.  For our film we got two people to critique our blog. To be honest, they had absolutely nothing bad to say and thought that it was really good. Lyne, said that she didn’t think anything was wrong. She said she loved the choice of music. She also said that she loved how it got louder at the climax of the film. She said that she actually got scared on the part, which was the climax of the film. This was a bonus because our movie genre is horror, so that’s the whole idea. Ludji also asked another friend for critiques. Her name was Valentina. She also had nothing bad to say about our film too and thought that it was really good. She said that are video was really good. She hoped that her turns out like ours. The only critique she had was that at one point it sounded like the music sounds like it restarts. Valentina said that the cut of the music in the back was a little obvious.
