Short Film Research: Bug - A Thousand Suns

 a. Common Sound in your genre
  • very silent, subtle suspenseful music in the background (eventually 
  • loud noise suddenly (phone emergency alarm going off, opening and closing of the door, sound of water being poured into cup, being drank, and placed down on the chopping board)
  • breathing, dialogue of the tv
  • sound of water gushing out
  • creaking of stairs and board creeks of the floor board on the 2nd floor
b. Common Mis-En-Scene (CLAMPS) in your genre
  • Costume: simple, apron on, as if she works or cleans for the house - Monster: bloody face, very gory
  • Lighting: a little dim, a bit eerie, no lights are on but isn’t too dark 
  • Actors: expressive facial expressions, exaggerated actions (such as drinking water)
  • Makeup: blood, fake body parts?
  • Props: cup, grocery items, water
  • Setting: a house (2 story) in living room, bedroom
c. Common Editing in your genre
  • Jump cuts - abruptly cutting from one scene or movement to the next (shows girl and suddenly jumps to glass of water still on the counter top)
  • Point of view shots - when we see what happens from the main characters pov
  • extreme close up: shows the main character and glass of water close up many times
